We just took it out of the box, hooked up the hose, and waited for it to fill. As soon as the outer ring filled up a small sprinkle began.
As the water pressure increased the spray went higher and the interior eventually filled up. The two 3 year olds loved it. At first they ran through the sprinkler part and later played in the pool water.
